Young Art: Graffiti and Children's Art Table

2010 May 27

When other kids were playing on play grounds and inside sand boxes, I preferred reading, writing, and trying to draw. From then, my passion for reading, writing, and drawing grew. It was like trying to make believe and accept my imaginations as true, I thought of myself as a fraction of what I was reading, putting myself into the character's shoes and believing for myself. I cherished story books compared to ordinary toys and loved each page of multicolored characters, pretending I was a part of it.

My love for reading, writing, and trying to draw improved not only my vivid imagination, but also my hand writing as well. Acting as if I was a part of the book saving princesses and slaughtering gremlins amused me in my own miniscule time.

I pretended to be Da Vinci painting Mona Lisa using my No. 2 Pencil and my army of colored pencils. I poured my soul and most probably sweat with trying to draw things that most probably seemed like scribble during that time, still, I considered it from the heart. I aimed to craft diminutive slip-ups as much as I could, however inevitable slip- ups reminded me to put in mind that an eraser is somewhat a tool to correct the slip-ups I did.

These artworks which I considered to be from the bottom of my heart were kept in a safe box along with most of my cherished fairy tale story books. I wanted to keep them, so as to constantly remind me that these little things I cherished as child had an immense involvement as I grew older.

To date back, my enthusiasm with drawing and reading started when I was about age four and started to be nosy. Thankfully, my mother entertained all of my exploration, and even opted to teach me and gave me the correct inputs.

From then on, my supposed talent was uncovered and my parents realized that my artistic soul eventually turned out for the worse. I started writing on the walls, making pretend graffiti and writing anywhere I could lay my hand grasping pencil on.

They eventually decided to provide a kid's activity table which helped me divert my artistic energy and provided a place for me to conceal my work of art and story books. It also kept me from preying on walls and other materials I could lay my hand on. Truly it is a good solution for a little pesky kid's problem.
