Custom Built Wall Units Add Much Needed Storage to Small Spaces
Small rooms can often seem cluttered and disorganized because so much must fit into them. One of the best ways to make a small room seem larger is by utilizing a wall or more of built in cabinets. Taking a wall or and filling it with cabinets serves several purposes. The main one is storage. Small spaces often have very little storage available, so whatever open is available ends of being a repository of assorted collections, magazines, school or office supplies, etc. Another is that by providing one consistant look on a particular wall it keeps the space from looking cluttered and crowed.
A well designed wall unit can hold at TV, a desk, book cases, collections, hobby tools, even a wall bed for the occasional guest. They provide necessary flexibility for today’s multiple function rooms. Built in cabinets can take a partially used wall and maximize the space from top to bottom, in effect creating additional space without adding sq footage to a room.
Within the same room you can have a desk area or 2, for your home office, a place for a TV, work table for special projects and even that bed that folds down when you have a guest. The newest innovation that we see in custom Murphy beds is a table that folds down from the front of the bed that can be used as a special projects table or a desk.
The absolutely best thing about a custom made wall unit is that it can be designed in whatever material or look you envision for your room. You don’t have to spend months searching all the stores in your area for the right look, size and material. A Cabinet Designer can measure the space for you, provide look and material options, and create the design that does exactly what you want it to.
The next time your spare room has become the repository of all the excess stuff that you have gathered over the years consider what a completely organized and well designed storage unit could do for your peace of mind. You might even get some of those many unfinished projects done one of these days!
